Verdict
This batch of Skunk is a piece of cannabis history that delivers on nostalgia but fails on the burn. It brings the loud, old-school aroma and a heavy, unrefined head-slam of a high that will leave you properly zoned out. However, between the muted flavour and a rough, dark-ashing burn that is genuinely tough on the throat, it’s not built for a smooth, pure smoke. It’s a case of nice legacy genetics that fell short on the final cure and execution.

Skunk: WeedViewer Review
[{"content":"Skunk, specifically Skunk #1, is arguably the most influential backbone of modern cannabis breeding, fundamentally changing the cultivation landscape when it exploded onto the scene in the late 1970s. Originally stabilized in California by the legendary Sacred Seeds cooperative (led by Sam the Skunkman), this historic strain was engineered by blending the genetics of Afghan, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold. It was Amsterdam that turned it into a global thing. Following a massive police raid on the California group in the early 1980s, Sam famously escaped to the Netherlands carrying a staggering stash of an estimated 250,000 seeds. Amsterdam’s tolerant coffeeshop culture and progressive decriminalization policies provided the perfect sanctuary. Dutch breeders embraced the genetics, adapting the resilient hybrid to indoor greenhouse setups and distributing it through historic seed banks. The strain permanently elevated the quality of European cannabis, dominating the inaugural High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 1988 and cementing the city as the capital of modern cannabis genetics.","heading":"About"},{"content":"Skunk absolutely brings that vintage volume, hitting you with a super loud, old-school profile the second you get near it. It opens with a really strong, spicy, and earthy punch, backed up by a slight herbal skunkyness. It gives a heavy nod to classic spicey Haze strains while still carving out its own identity. It’s a nostalgic, heavy-hitting scent profile that fills the room.","heading":"Aroma"},{"content":"While the aroma promises a massive punch, the flavour dials it back into a more modest, traditional lane. It leads with a spicy, herbal profile that tastes like classic, old-school cannabis, though it doesn't quite carry over the intense loudness from the bag. It manages to pack a bit of a punch and overall it lands as a somewhat decent classic spicy herbal flavour.","heading":"Flavour"},{"content":"This isn't a modern, finely polished hybrid, this is an old-school slam. The high creeps up on you gradually, but once it arrives, it hits like a truck leaving you properly messed up. It starts with a chaotic, spacey head-high that spins your thoughts around a bit before eventually settling down to make room for some decent body relaxation. It’s unrefined and heavy, making it a great pick if your only goal is to completely zone out.","heading":"Effects"},{"content":"This is where the experience takes a major hit. It’s simply not a pleasant smoke burn wise. It burns with dark ash and feels quite harsh and aggressive on the throat. You might catch a couple of okay-ish, smooth puffs, but overall, it’s tough to handle and definitely not recommended to be smoked pure.","heading":"Burn Quality"}]
