Sour Melon Strain Info & Reviews

WeedViewer Review

Rating: 7/10

Verdict

A well priced hybrid that looks great and delivers a solid, functional high. It is held back by an uneven, harsh burn, but the price point makes it worth considering. This strain is best suited for an intermediate smoker who is specifically looking for something different in flavour and wants a balanced, functional high for the day or evening. However, because it is really harsh on the throat, I would not recommend it if you prefer a smooth smoke.

Sour Melon: WeedViewer Review

[{"content":"Sour Melon was bred by Karma Genetics. The strain is a direct cross between two of their own popular varieties: the Melon (KG cut) and Sour Diesel BX3. Karma Genetics created this hybrid to mix the heavy, gassy profile of East Coast Sour Diesel with the sweet, overripe fruit flavours of their signature Melon line.","heading":"About"},{"content":"The buds look good. They are medium sized and compact with a clean hand trim, meaning there are no leftover sugar leaves. The colour is a natural mix of light and dark green, completely covered in a visible, heavy layer of white trichomes. The only issue is that the flower feels quite dry and lacks the sticky, resinous texture you usually want from a fresh batch.","heading":"Visual"},{"content":"The smell from the bag is moderately strong, leaning toward an earthy, sweet, and slightly fruity profile. The terpene profile changes noticeably once the buds go through a grinder. Breaking the flower down brings out a much stronger, sweeter fruit scent.","heading":"Aroma"},{"content":"The taste is decent, but it has a specific profile that might not be for everyone. It tastes like a sweet, fruity soap. The inhale is sweet but soapy, while the exhale leaves a mostly soapy aftertaste with just a bit of sweetness. It translates okay from the aroma, but it is an unusual flavour profile that doesn't stay around in your mouth for very long after smoking.","heading":"Flavour"},{"content":"The high itself is solid. It has a gradual onset rather than hitting you all at once. It delivers a light head high combined with a mild to heavy body relaxation. It is a very balanced hybrid effect that keeps you fully functional instead of leaving you couch locked. The high lasts about 3 to 4 hours and comes down slowly, though it does cause some severe dry mouth.","heading":"Effects"},{"content":"The smoking experience is the weakest part of this batch. The joint burns unevenly, and the ash is a mix of light grey and dark grey. The smoke feels really harsh on the throat, making the overall smoking experience pretty unpleasant. It will definitely make you cough if you are sensitive to harsh hits.","heading":"Burn Quality"}]
